I'm not sure exactly what "space" you are referring to.
I recommend you check out "Appendix A - Field Specifications" of the VEX Clean Sweep Manual. This can be found on the VEX Clean Sweep page:

Inside Appendix A you can find a series of drawings with the field dimensions.
If these drawings don't have the dimension you're looking for check out
"VRC10-FIELD-ASSY.exe" (also included in Appendix A). This is a Solidworks 3D viewer file. It should open on almost all computers (no CAD software required) and contains a full 3D model of the VEX Clean Sweep field. Using the "measure" tool you can take whatever dimensions you need directly off the model.
