Our basket with powered gate (holds six balls the gate makes it score every single time. We figured that quick scoring was better then getting alot of balls and possibly getting blocked from scoring.

You just copy the picture (not the link) and paste. Yeah, I think you should redo this thread, and this time make them attachments.

Interesting but I see an entanglement hazard in the second picture in the second post. Nice design seems very simple and robust. Hows turning?

They're probably too big to attach, just right click and click view image and it should resize it for your browser, then just hit back after you've looked at it, and chances are he's hosting them somewhere on the web. I don't think you can simply paste them into a thread.

the pictures are hosted on another site.

Some browsers have an option that will adjust the display size of the images to fit the browser window.

still it must be a hassle for anyone on dial up who opens this thread :)

The robot looks great. It is similar to ours. I guess we had the same ideas. You know what they say "Great Minds Think Alike"

Not to upset anybody but I think he basically said they have great robots. They said the s.h.i.r.t. robot was great, so if there bot was great and this one is similar in a way he has said they have a great bot. This is getting confusing either way I agree it was a bit cocky.

So far, I know of several robots with almost the same design.

Team 40 Checkmate I believe started this design. They won the ConnVEX regional.

Team 3549, 3391, 3675, and I "think" 3047 as well as several teams which I forgot the numbers, all have pretty much the same design, tread intake + basket dump.

From the teams I think team 40 and 3549 did the best job with their robots. Although I don't really know team 3391 and 3675 well, so I can't comment that much.

When I said great minds think alike I was just acknowledging that we ha almot exactly the same idea and it was the first thing that came to mind.

I have seen many teams try to reconstruct a robot or accidentally have a similar robot but 9 times out of 10 they work in different directions.

Well my teams design came in spurts. First we saw that Mr. Roboto used the intake system in the Devry Regional. So we decided to use it. I myself came up with the way we get it into the high goal (not saying I was the first to ever do it, but I had not seen it done before).

...But anyway this thread isnt about me its about team 3391's robot " The Pony Express" which I still think from looks, is a good robot.

3047 does not use this design, we merely use the tank treads to lift a basket. Our design is fairly unique as far as I know, we even use the tank tread lift in a somewhat different manner than others I've seen. The intake method uses rubberbands and a lot of spacers.

We have a tank tread intake and a basket but it is nothing like this. We dont want to build these box bots (nothing against them) but we look for the most compact robot we can get. Although the robot we have now is rather large but is not a box bot. This robot is hard to comment on because you cant see the whole thing.

I am not trying to start another "flame war", but I just want to clear up some things. Sshroboticsclub said "great minds think alike" refering to the robots. I took that as saying that they think their robots are by far better than everyone elses. Maybe this is true, we will see in Atlanta, but it seemed a little cocky to me to be saying on the forum. I know every team does this- while they are testing it with their team, but what you said shouldn't have been publicly announced.

Alright, lets try to get back onto the topic at hand.

"Great minds think a like" is a saying, it doesn't mean that you think you're better than everyone else. It's simply hey wow we both had the same design it must be a good design if we both came up with it.
