2014 Design ChallengesRECF STEM Educational VideoCreate a video to teach a new team something about the STEM aspects of robotics engineering or construction that you have learned from experience that can help them better prepare for a competition. You should come up with your own idea, but here are some sample ideas from previous years’ Educational Videos:

EMC Robotics Team/Club Website ChallengeThis challenge is to develop a website that promotes your entire robotics program – your VRC team(s) and any other robotics programs you participate in, your outreach activities, how to join, what you have done, who you are, where you are, and what you plan to do in the future. In short, build a website that tells the world how great youth robotics is and how special your program is. You are encouraged to promote all the STEM activities in which your robotics program participates (VRC, BEST, Botball, FIRST, TSA, PLTW, SKILLS USA, SKILLS Canada, underwater robotics, workshops, camps, math competitions, bridge building, solar-powered cars, etc.) Requirements:Challenge Opens:09-17-2013 06:00 PMChallenge Deadline:01-14-2014 06:00 AMPrize(s):
FUTURE Foundation Robot Construction ChallengeThe FUTURE Foundation exists to advance robotics and technology through education. Build a VEX robot to deliver trophies to award winners at robotics tournament awards presentations. Think of your robot as the helper that makes presenting trophies a fun and exciting part of the awards ceremonies. It is up to you to figure out how this would work, but it should be useful, creative and interesting. The producers of the VEX Robotics World Championship may buy the winning robot in the FUTURE Foundation Robot Construction Challenge, for the cost of materials, and the robot may be used to present trophies at the 2014 World Championship! VEX Robotics Competition Promote AwardThe Promote Award is presented to a VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) or VEX U team that has created and submitted an outstanding promotional video. The goal of this video is to help the team introduce itself to the community, to help recruit new members and mentors, and gain support for the team. This video may be about the team, the program, the competition, the design and build process, or any theme the team believes can help promote its VEX Robotics program in their school or community. VRC Game Design Animation ChallengeCreate an animated video that shows and explains a new VEX Robotics Competition game. Requirements:Challenge Opens:09-17-2013 06:00 PMChallenge Deadline:01-14-2014 06:00 AMPrize(s):
VEX Robotics Essay ChallengeThis challenge is to write a short essay on what exactly VEX Robotics means to you. Tell the judges your own story of your involvement on a competition team, in a classroom, or as a hobbyist working with VEX. Perhaps VEX robotics has made you rethink your career plans, or made you want to study engineering in college, or helped you understand physics better. Maybe you have a friend or family member who learned something valuable from their VEX experience. However VEX robotics has improved your understanding, inspired you to try something you didn’t know you could do, or even changed the course of your education – we want to hear about it.
